Diane Berth, MA, LPA, BCBA
Diane has over 35 years of experience with individuals with various types of developmental disabilities including autism. In 2015, she completed her master’s degree in Clinical Psychology (MA) at the University of North Carolina Wilmington with a focus on Applied Behavior Analysis. Her studies culminated with an internship at the J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center in Morganton, NC, licensure as a Psychological Associate (LPA), certification as a Behavior Analyst (BCBA), and the establishment of Berth Behavior Consultation, PLLC. She now provides community-based Behavior Consultative Services for adults with IDD who are at risk for placement in a more restrictive environment due to severe problem behavior or lack of adaptive life skills. Diane has partnered with Trillium Health Resources to provide Specialized Consultative Services for adults in community-based and home settings in the Wilmington area and is intentional about connecting with other providers in the community. Previous professions include bookkeeping, auditing, and management for a period of 10 years, then a career as a radiation therapist for 15 years. Diane brings a variety of skills, interests, and past experiences forward into all aspects of her practice and in advocating for others to access and receive the supports they need.
Jason Smolensky, MS, LBA, BCBA
Jason is a creative and passionate Board-Certified Behavior Analyst© (BCBA) who enjoys a collaborative, goal-oriented approach to helping others learn and to live their best lives. He graduated from the University of Vermont with a bachelor's degree in Secondary Education in 2016 (BS) and the University of North Dakota with a Master of Science degree in Applied Behavior Analysis (MS) in 2019. Jason's experience includes providing behavior analytic services to people ages 2 to 40 in a wide variety of settings for the past seven years, providing clinical support to other behavior analysts, starting and maintaining clinical locations, and operations management. Jason is dedicated to and motivated by establishing long-lasting client, caregiver, and provider relationships, and obtaining empirically guided treatment results.
Dr. Joshua Garner, Ph.D., BCBA-D
Joshua's career began as an undergraduate in psychology at Ohio State University. As an undergraduate, he served several roles including providing intervention services for young children with disabilities, a research assistant in psychopharmacology, and was a trainee in behavioral pediatrics. Joshua then entered graduate school, earning his master's degree and PhD in special education and applied behavior analysis from Ohio State University. During graduate school, Joshua coordinated a reading clinic for children and adults and coordinated behavioral intervention services for children in Columbus City Schools. After graduate school, Joshua served in several leadership roles including assistant professor and director of research at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology, and executive director of the Walden Learning Collective and the Behavioral Education Research Initiative. Joshua enjoys conducting translational research and has publications pertaining to the resurgence of operant behavior. Recently, Joshua published and presented on issues pertaining to healthcare workers' freedom in ABA. Additionally, he has extensive experience as an educational and behavioral consultant for children and adults with disabilities. Joshua joined Berth Behavior Consultation in June 2023 to develop and supervise a training curriculum for providers who are interested in pursuing integrative care behavioral services for adults with disabilities.
Dr. Jennifer Haddock, Ph.D., BCBA-D
Dr. Jennifer Haddock is a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst® with over 18 years of experience in the field. Dr. Haddock earned a Ph.D. from the University of Florida, following a master's degree from California State University, Los Angeles, and certification from the Florida Institute of Technology. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Kennedy Krieger Institute and teaches graduate courses in behavior analysis. Since 2006, Dr. Haddock has been dedicated to helping individuals with autism, intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), and related conditions improve their lives using behavior analysis. She has experience working in a variety of roles across home, community, clinic, inpatient, and research settings. Her many interests include caregiver coaching, addressing emotional and challenging behavior, increasing independent living skills, and community building.
Driven by a passion for the science of behavior, Dr. Haddock aims to empower individuals and their families to enhance the quality of their lives. Through personalized, evidence-based interventions, Dr. Haddock strives to bring about meaningful and lasting improvements in behavior and overall well-being of her clients and their families.
Sophia Barsanti, MS, BCBA
Sophia is a dedicated Board Certified Behavior Analyst with undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Music from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill followed by an MS in Psychology with a concentration in Applied Behavior Analysis from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Sophia has worked in the field of ABA since 2019, having worked as a Registered Behavior Technician before starting her graduate studies. Sophia joined the Berth team as an masters degree intern in 2024, became certified in 2025, and is passionate about developing creative, individually tailored interventions based on clients’ unique interests and passions.
